Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Educational DVD

This PTSD DVD discusses the severe and timely problem of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD has been known by many names and mostly in connection with war. Shell Shock and Battle Fatigue described exactly the same condition. Wartime stress is where PTSD was first noted and because of that, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder has always been thought of as a condition that is created when a single and overwhelming trauma happens to a person. If the stress is great enough it overwhelms a person and they cannot process the shock. Weeks, months, or years later the sufferer is surprised to have a delayed reaction of fear, anger, depression, excessive startle response, and nightmares of the past event. Often alcohol or drug addiction results in a forlorn attempt to stop the memories and pain.

What is less known about PTSD is that experiencing smaller and more numerous traumas can cause the same devastating symptoms. This syndrome is even more perplexing and damaging because the sufferer does not feel that their past abuse was severe enough to account for their present distress.
