Most people believe that if they try to bring up an issue it will result in a fight, often with one of the parties storming away.

Talking about important issues does not have to be scary and does not have to result in a fight. Jef Gazley, M.S., LMFT has been working with couples and families for over 33 years and has worked extensively in teaching effective communication skills. This communication skills educational video is composed of two sections. The first section is a clear didactic presentation of what emotions are and how they affect people when they are repressed. A detailed presentation of assertiveness training, effective negotiation, and conflict resolution follows. The last part of the video is a role-playing demonstration of a couple attempting to resolve a disagreement.

The other self-help videos in the series include Dysfunctional Families, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Healthy Boundaries, Love Addiction, Chemical Dependence, Codependency, and Parenting. Each video in this series describes in detail a major psychological and behavioral problem suffered by a significant amount of people in the general population. The signs and symptoms of each disorder are delineated and solutions to those problems addressed.

These DVDs and videos can be utilized by professionals as training and educational resources, as well as individuals with a desire to learn about different mental health topics such as Substance Abuse, Relationships and Parenting Tips, Healthy Personal Boundaries, Love Addiction, and Codependency, among other mental health topics. Each video has been developed by Jef Gazley, M.S., LMFT.  Jef has been a teacher and psychotherapist in private practice for over 33 years. Each of these educational videos has been approved for continuing education credit by NBCC for 1 hour of home study ceus.
